North Dakota fighting mad

The president of the University of North Dakota is fighting mad over the new NCAA policy essentially banning Indian mascots.

Here's his open letter to the NCAA.

Well, remmember ND got a new hockey arena and load of cash from a donor who specifically said they could never change their name.

Yes, the president mentioned that in his letter. They don't sound too interested in changing their name.

Speaking of which, the UND hockey arena is insane! I have been to NHL arenas that are in much worse shape. Every seat is made of leather, the stairs are carpeted and there is a huge professional top of the line video board. Talk about overkill.

Nice letter from the president, but there is a touch of hypocrisy when he refers to the "financial arms race" of college athletics only paragraphs after bragging about UND's $100 million facilities.
