Queen in the US

Well, not exactly Queen. Queen + Paul Rodgers played in New York on Sunday and will play again in LA on Saturday. Unfortunately for me, that's way too far away to go.

If you went, how was it? Paul Rodgers doesn't seem like a logical replacement for Freddie Mercury. I'm not sure anyone is, but I would have never figured it would be him.

Jerry,

No one can replace Freddie. Queen was an incredible group. The best, IMO, but I can accept other opinions on that, but without Freddie, it's just 3 old guys and a new lead trying to regain some past glory.

In many ways he was the heart of the group. His name doesn't appear as a writer on all their hits, but quite a few of them.

Just let him rest in peace, and let Queen rest in peace as well.

I don't really begrudge the guys going back out and playing (only Brian and Roger are out - bassist John Deacon is permanently retired). They are musicians, after all, and there's another generation of people who have heard at least some of their music. It's a shame they don't have Freddie of course. I would guess it sounds a lot different, but I don't blame them for trying to Keep Themselves Alive.

I had the good fortune see them on their last US tour. I would go see this show too if I could get anywhere near it.
